Levi’s Promotion

August 27th, 2010

I remember one of my rewards if I attain my goal weight and that is to give myself a new pair of Levi’s jeans. Well, I never got to have a new pair of Levi’s jeans which obviously means that I haven’t attained my goal weight yet.

But last week, when we went to one of the malls, I found out that Levi’s has a great promotion. That is to trade in  your old Levi’s pair ( any style, any color, any age) and you can buy a new pair for 1,000 Baht less. Well, that is really a great promo. I have a few jeans that I don’t use anymore since they are too tight for me. So, I can exchange them and get 1,000 Baht off! I was so tempted with this promotion.. but then, I haven’t reached my goal weight yet..so, I think I will have to let go of this great opportunity.

There a really a number of good promotions and contests this time in our city.  I wonder if a time will come when they can give gold coins as a Grand prizes for their contests. Carrefour once gave jewelries as a grand prize. These prizes would really be of great worth because their value appreciates as time goes by.

Driving 103

August 27th, 2010

I’ve never got much chance to drive and fetch my daughter from school for the past month. Our car is usually being used to go to another province so, my Hubby fetches our daughter by motorbike, instead.  I know how to drive the motorbike but it has already been ages since I rode one. If I remember correctly, I stopped riding the motorbike when I found out that I’m pregnant with my second son. And now, I’m not even sure if I can still ride one.   I’m not  confident at all to ride with my daughter and how much more with my almost 3 year old son. Oh, I guess it’ll spell disaster if I ride the motorbike with them. LOL!

I think I have to practice again in riding the motorbike. It’ll be nice to practice in a big field with all the different roads and traffic signals like warning flags, traffic cones, traffic signs and traffic barricade.  I just  saw a site that sells everything that has something to do with traffic. This site will be good for all the driving schools and even the motor department or something like that. You might want to check this site out now.

Cutting Off Coffee

August 27th, 2010

I thought I could never live without coffee. But I’m proven wrong has it has already been 5 days since I didn’t have coffee in the morning. I loved coffee because it tastes so good but I think I’ve never been ‘addicted’ to it since I didn’t experience any withdrawal syndromes.

So far I’ve been drinking 100% vegetable news in the morning and I just feel so healthy drinking it. :) I hope this continues on until such time I’ll forget about the delicious aroma and taste of coffee.

Drinking 8 Glasses of Water

August 27th, 2010

http://www.quitsmokingonline.com/glass-of-water.jpg

Do you drink 8 glasses of water everyday? As I’ve read through a number of different articles on weight loss, I’ve found that that almost all these articles stress the importance of drinking at least 8 glasses of water everyday.

I’ve never been a ‘water drinker’ and I’ve found out that I’ve never drank enough water in a day. So, at one time, I tried to drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. I needed a system to count since I easily forget if I just mentally count how many glasses I’ve already drank. So, I put 8 pieces of 1 Baht coins on top of the fridge and everytime I drink a glass, I put a piece of coin on the other side, until all the 8 coins are moved to the other side. This has been quite an effective way of monitoring my water intake.

And speaking of coins, I’m just reminded of the article that I’ve read earlier which says that there’s no better time to invest in gold coins than now. I wonder how these gold coins look like. It’ll be nice to see one and see how they can be of great value.

Devotion for Dieters- August 26

August 27th, 2010

2 Timothy 4:18
And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Wes looked at the sign on the refrigerator door: God is watching! What a thought! Everything he did was under God’s watchful eye. A slight groan escaped his lips as he thought of the times he’d cheated through the week. He hoped it was worth it. Actually, Wes kind of liked the sign. It made him think, and once he got to thinking, his diet wasn’t so bad. God had helped him avoid a lot of unnecessary snacks. There were worse things to have happen to you than to have God watching every move you made. Wes felt pretty confident. With God’s help, he was really going to make it through this thing!

Today’s thought: God’s steering me clear of the fat traps!

Kitchen Gadgets

August 26th, 2010

I’ve been looking over a lot of  cake and dessert recipes lately over the internet. I’ve found that many of these cakes and desserts are actually quite easy to make but then I just don’t have the complete kitchen ‘gadgets’ or baking paraphernalia. It’s like I’m a workman without the complete equipment and safety gadgets. And speaking of which there’s a discount online store that sells work gloves ( leather work gloves or of other fabrics), safety goggles, helmet and the like at very affordable price. I just hope there is also a discount shop here that sells all the baking equipment and gadgets. at a very affordable price. I really want to learn how to bake more cake and dessert recipes. I guess I am a frustrated baker. I just don’t like to bake, but I especially like to eat those goodies that I bake.

Anyways, here is a video of how to make my favorite  dessert, Brazo de Mercedes. My friend shared the recipe and the video to me. She also made one and it looked very delicious. I hope I could make one someday. But I have to buy a cookie tray first for my oven.

Hmm.. doesn’t it look so delicious?!

Devotion for Dieters – August 25

August 26th, 2010

Luke 6:37
‘Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.’

Kelly was unbearable. She had lost thirty pounds with relative ease, so she ridiculed anyone who couldn’t do it as easily as she had. Kelly wasn’t being fair. Every person is different. It didn’t mean that others weren’t as committed or as dedicated as Kelly had been. It was frustrating to try so hard and then have Kelly make fun of you for it. Why couldn’t she have a little compassion? After all, she had been obese once! After losing weight, we should be more compassionate than anyone else. It is important to remember how hard losing weight really is. We have a wonderful opportunity to help others when we keep in mind what we’ve come through.

Today’s thought: I hope I can lose my weight without losing my sensitivity toward others!

Holiday Mode – Off

August 16th, 2010

From tomorrow onwards, I need to be on a work mode already. My brother’s family is already leaving to Malaysia and so we are back to our normal routine. Hopefully I could get back to my daily exercise and diet.

For almost a month now, I haven’t watched my diet and haven’t been exercising. It’s really difficult to go on a diet with guests around. Because it’s like there’s always a reason to celebrate.. with food! We’ve been eating out and taking meals with Coke!!.. Who can resist Durian with matching coke? We’ve been eating durian for many days! We’ve had our ’seafood’ feasts, pizza party and chips galore! Yeah..yeah.. it has been a great but unhealthy month I know. LOL! I haven’t even dared to weight myself for weeks now since I know it will spell bad news. Do you think I need to try Appesat and those famous Weight Loss pills? But with so many of these in the market, there’s no way of knowing which one will be effective for me or which one won’t have negative side effects. So, I guess let me stick to the classic formula which is diet and exercise.

So, hopefully… hopefully my system can easily switch to Diet Mode and Exercise Mode.

Devotion for Dieters- August 15

August 15th, 2010

Revelation 21:3
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.’

Cathy decided to make a contract with God rather than a promise to herself. She vowed that she would lose weight for Him, not for any vain or selfish reason she could come up with. Somehow it was easier to do for God than it had been for herself. The pounds melted more quickly. Cathy continued her diet with regular prayer and recommitment to the promise she made to God. Before long, Kathy had lost all the weight she set out to lose. Our promises to God are very important. Often we can do for Him what we fail at for ourselves. God has promised to help us whenever we need Him. He will help us lose weight.

Today’s thought: My diet is more than a wish; it is a promise to God.

Christmas 2011

August 15th, 2010

I know that Christmas 2011 is still far behind.. Christmas 2010 is even still 4 months away. But I can’t help to look forward for this Christmas because our family is planning to spend Christmas in the Philippines ( God willing). On this Christmas, my brother’s family is also coming home so, this means this will be the first Christmas that we will all be together. And added to the excitement is the wedding of my cousin in which my son will take part as one of the entourage. Exciting isn’t? But yes, that’s still so far but I just love to spend Christmas in the Philippines, to spend time with family, enjoy the festivities and the great C7 led christmas lights that decorate some shops.
