Upgrading Oneself

Upgrading Oneself

We try to upgrade our handphones, our computers and other gadgets to keep up with the latest technology. But have we tried to think about ‘upgrading’ ourselves through continuing studies?

I’ve actually just thought about that a few days ago. It seems that I’ve come to a point where I was ‘lazy’ to learn more new things. And now, I want to learn more and improve ( or upgrade) myself. As of now, I’m not thinking of doing some serious online studies but rather some crash courses about my other interests.

Maybe in the near future, once my kids are grown up , I could think about getting to an online university and getting an online mba or something like that. I’ve actually just browsed through a site in which they offer affordable programs with tuition and financial aid. This online university is an accredited one with various degrees and programs to choose from.

Devotions For Dieters- December 13

Devotions For Dieters- December 13

Revelation 2:7
‘He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.’

Beth and David made a deal that they would diet through the week but treat themselves to a night out each week at one of their favorite restaurants. Restaurant night became the best night of the week. Both Beth and David agreed that they had never enjoyed their food so much as when they only splurged one time a week. They grew to appreciate how good it really was. It helped to make even ordinary meals special and delicious. God has offered us special things to eat. He has created so much to make our lives interesting and varied. We must enjoy these things discreetly and unselfishly. If we will enjoy them within God’s plan, then He will reward us with fruit from the tree of life, which will be the finest food we could ever want.

Today’s thought: God’s food is eternal, and it isn’t fattening!

My Thoughts:

This is a good idea: 6 days diet and 1 day ‘treat’. This idea somehow takes out the ‘deprivation’ that diet plans usually have.

And by the way, I can’t help but chuckled after I read this, ‘God’s food is eternal, and it isn’t fattening!’ .. It’s true.. we must soak ourselves more on God’s food.. His word.. we don’t have to worry having too much of it.

Waiting To Get Settled

Waiting To Get Settled

I think I’ve said this over and over again, ” I can’t wait to get settled back in Thailand.” We were on a year break and it was indeed a great break for us. On this one year we’ve been to the Philippines twice, went to Myanmar, Hong Kong, Thailand and different parts of Malaysia. It was an enjoyable time for the whole family but since we always travel with kids, it was always been more challenging. And because we were always traveling, we never established our own routine and so with our kids.

So, when we get settled, I can’t wait to establish our own routines and schedulesĀ  once again. I’ll be homeschooling my li’l girl so, I expect to be busier and more occupied.

And of course the traveler in me would always want a break in between. Maybe after we’re settled for a couple of months, then I guess that it’ll be a time to think of another break, maybe a weekend getaway nearby. Too bad we would be in Thailand and we don’t haveĀ Outer Banks vacation homes here. A day in the beach or an evening at the park would do.
