Time Outs.. Breaks.. Rests.. Stops.. Relaxation
We all need that in our lives. Without all these, we’ll feel burnt out and will lack in motivation as we do things.
Mom’s Time out- We need a time in day to be still, be quiet and commune with our God. We need time to relax, put our feet up, pain our nails or read a book. For me, doing these things truly refreshes me.
Dad and Mom’s Time out- With kids and people around 24/7 this is quite difficult to achieve. That’s why it takes a bit of sacrifice just to spend some quality time with our spouse. Never mind the late night talks and lack of sleep. Talking to your loved one and spending quality time just fills our love tanks.
Time Out with each kid- I almost forgot about this.. only when my daughter complained and said, ” You always take care of Lyle! What about me?” that I realized that my role as a Mom wasn’t that balanced at all. Of course, the little one needs more time and attention as he’s still very dependent towards me but then, I must have done this to the point of ‘neglecting’ my older child’s needs with the assumption that she’s very independent and can take care of herself.
With this realization, I want to give time outs each day for myself, together with my spouse and each of my kids. Let me take time to stop and take care of my needs, my marriage and my kids’. So help me God..
