My Li’l boy is already 1 year and 8 months and I’m currently checking out if whether he’s already ready to be potty trained or not: Here’s the checklist and my answers.

Can pull his pants up and down. Not yet
Dislikes the feeling of wearing a wet or dirty diaper. No
Shows interest in others’ bathroom habits (wants to watch you go to the bathroom or wear underwear). yes

Demonstrates a desire for independence. yes
Takes pride in his accomplishments. Yes
Isn’t resistant to learning to use the toilet. No
Is in a generally cooperative stage, not a negative or contrary one. No
Cognitive signs
Can follow simple instructions, such as “go get the toy.” yes
Understands the value of putting things where they belong. nope
Has words for urine and stool. yes
Understands the physical signals that mean he has to go and can tell you before it happens or even hold it until he has time to get to the potty. Yes
My verdict:
I think he’s almost ready for it. We will just have to give a little bit more time. We, as a parent must also be ready for it, going to and fro the toilet, waking up at the middle of the night to take him to the toilet. I think this time our boy has showed signs of being toilet trained earlier than our Li’l girl. It took us some time to toilet train our girl to the point of thinking that maybe she’ll end up wearing adult diapers in the future. But thankfully she did it! Hopefully our boy will also have success being toilet trained at a younger age.
Thanks for posting, I’ll definitely be subscribing to your blog.
