How to be Financially Fit in times of Crisis

The news is all over, big companies are closing down, countless of people are out of job and prices are soaring high. You can’t help but worry about the future.

As of now, I still can’t personally feel the effect of all these things or maybe we are already used to be in financial crisis..hehehe! but kidding aside, I resolved to take measures to be prepared for these things.

How to be Financially Fit in times of crisis? Here are my suggestions:

1) Pray and Don’t worry – As the Bible says we can’t gain anything when we worry. So, I resolves that whenever I hear news about the worldwide recession, I pray. God has the power to change everything and God is able to provide our needs. Period.

2) Think before you spend – I need to ask myself the following questions before I spend. Is the thing I’m buying important? Is it a need or a want? If it’s just a want, then maybe it can wait for awhile. I can decide on buying it only when there’s a bit of extra money. I thing one question that I need to ask now too is : Is it healthy? Yes, a good portion of our budget goes on food and I think we have to stop buying food stuffs that are not good for our health (I’m talking about junk food). With this action, I can’t just save a chunk of money but save on extra bulge on my hips. :)

3) Work on your personal/family budget- When the monthly pay comes, all the necessary bills must be paid off and only then budget on the other things. If there’s no extra money after all the bills and grocery budget then it’s time to cut off some extra expenses like long distance calls, eathing out and etc.

4) Try not to loan or borrow Money – In times of recession, bank interests soar up so high, and when we have bank loans, we’ll end up being burdened with it. So, it’s safer not to have any loans or only have manageable loans. Having a lot of loans ( especially cash loans) also proves that we are going beyond our budget.

5) Find extra income- Aside from your main income, look for other ways to earn. Invest on some small business or look for some ‘business’ online that doesn’t require much of your time.
